The children were sleeping asleep in their cribs while I was strapped to one of them to my back. Ha! The home was starting to look nice, but there was a lot that needed to be left. This was going take the time, energy, and my favorite shopping to complete the interior of this house. My three sons and me searched for hidden gems while going to estate sales in order to help ensure that my spending was under control. Our weekly routine that consisted of spending Friday through Saturday at estate sales and garage sales purchasing new and old objects. The rest of the week working on painting and sanding the driveway. Furniture looked this way... which is where I found my love to restore. It didn't matter if the home was decorated. There was an area on the market to sell items. Then, my collection got so large that the room that I was living in was not enough. My house was transformed into a space that I hosted open houses, where up to 1,000 people could view the things on the first floor, and then purchase these items. Growing Days was founded in my house. My company was flourishing, but my family was growing too. The balance between work and family was crucial to me. I wished to balance being a mother and a successful business owner. Growing Days seemed like the perfect combination. My daughter Nora became our fourth child. I loved where my business was heading but I needed a break. I decided to put off building my old furniture and spend time with my kids. It was exactly what I was looking for. It rang once more after several minutes. There were calls from people asking me for help with interior decor and home renovations. Most of them were people who visited my home in my open houses for furniture. I began to take on clients at a time working at my own pace but it didn't take for long to have numerous accounts and had an entire home improvement business. Most likely, I'd have laughed had someone had told me the business was going to be the premise of an upcoming television show that airs on the DIY Network. It's hilarious to look back to it.
